Welcome to Lazy Goddess, a weekly newsletter that hits your inbox with a hefty dose of dopamine. Each week, I'll send you the best (and worst) of things to make your life a little brighter. In each category, you'll get at least one item to make your day more organized, colorful, relaxing, connected, and/or delicious.
Creature Comforts
Soothing the senses.
I was *influenced* to purchase these Musicozy headphones for sleep. There are better looking ones on Amazon, but they’re way pricier and I wanted to try it out first. I LOVE THEM. They are bluetooth, hold a charge for a long time, and are super comfortable. The only problem is that I’ve been falling asleep to my audiobook (with a 30m sleep timer) too quickly and missing the bulk of it! I’m going to instead listen to mindless podcasts so I don’t lose my spot in my book. But these knock me out. Do it.
Eye of the Beholder
Beauty stuff, but not in detriment-buying kind of way.
I love this thing. I have been trying to take better care of my hair over the past year, which includes not using regular cotton towels on my head and avoiding excessive blow-drying. These things are microfiber (better for your hair), stay on your head comfortably (so you can wear it a long time), and cut down on any blow-drying.
Delicacies
Of the food and drink variety.
If you’ve never had these, you need to stop what you’re doing right now and GET THEM. I don’t even know how to describe how good they are. Salty, sweet, great texture, excellent paired with coffee/tea… Just a little joy balloon. You keep them in the fridge so they’re nice and cold. You can buy them at Whole Foods or Target! Drooling.
Type-A
Organizational catnip for WFH (...or just H stuff).
Zoom essential. I get shiny no matter what I do and it feels especially prominent in Zoom calls, in which you need direct lighting. I use probably one per day to avoid looking like I just dunked my head in Vaseline.
Brain Food
Articles, books, quotes, and other noggin' fodder.
This is a great podcast. Yes, that is Rachel Lindsay and YES she was the first Black Bachelorette. No, you don’t have to be a Bachelor fan to enjoy the podcast — in fact, the only Bachelor stuff in the pod is critical of the franchise and its handling of race issues. From their description: “Van Lathan and Rachel Lindsay dissect the biggest topics in black culture, politics, and sports. Two times per week, they will wade into the most important and timely conversations, frequently inviting guests on the podcast and occasionally debating each other.”
Gifts
Your friends and family will thank you.
Is it just me or does it seem like everyone is procreating lately? I first bought this blanket for one of my favorite babies, and I could tell it got so much use that I knew it was a hit (given that I cannot speak from baby blanket experience). It’s my go-to now!
Flow
Creativity, adult hobbies, flow.
Type A + Flow = this item. Maybe you already have your hobbies chosen and you want to improve the experience — you need this art cart. I keep my painting supplies in this one in White, and it’s amazing. Rolls smoothly. I may even get another for my baking supplies! Easy to build and can be used for anything. It would be great for organizing cards and stationary to make it easy to write notes more often. Or yarn, if you’re a knitter. Or snacks. The possibilities are endless!
How about No
Save your moolah. Pass.
Alright. I have told you I have an obsession with water bottles. These big water bottles are in right now and I wanted to be super hydrated. I didn’t realize how huge this 128oz water bottle would truly be… and the picture doesn’t do it justice. (Side note: excellent La Croix flavor above). I ended up returning this bad boy and it even shocked the Amazon return counter people. You literally have to use BOTH HANDS to pick it up. I ended up buying the half size, at 64oz, and even that was too big and ugly to really motivate me to drink water. It’s getting returned today. Speaking of — does anyone have any suggestions for ways to responsibly recycle or donate stainless steel water bottles?
Well folks, that's all for this week's Lazy Goddess list. Special thanks to my fiancé, Salty Carbs, for encouraging this endeavor and making the logo! We'd be so grateful if you shared the goods with your friends and family who could use more comfort or color in their lives. None of the above links are affiliate links, FYI - but if you want to support my little project, you can buy me a coffee!
